Trail Description

We would like to welcome everyone to our newly developed Loop Walk. This is a series of two looped walks as shown on the map Our base is Leghowney Community Centre that has car/coach parking (approx200 spaces). These new walks have been recently developed wit the co-operation of Coilte (Irish Forestry Service). Leaving the Community Centre the first stage leads you through a forest taking you upwards towards the mountain top. This is the most severest of the climb. After that the pathway levels out and it is an easy stroll from there onwards. From the top the views are stunning of the surrounding countryside -Donegal Bay, Bluestack Mts, Lough Eske, Ben Bulben (Co Sligo) are just some of the many landmarks for the walker to behold without the aid of binoculars. The shortest route takes approx 1.5 hours and the longer route 2-2.5 hours of a leisurely stroll Comming of the mountain you enter onto a quiet country lane for approx the last 1.5 km of the walk. For the more serious walker, by taking a right turn at the windmills, it is possible to link up to the Ulster Way. We hope many of you can come and enjoy our walks It is possible to avail of refreshments at the Community Centre with teas, coffee, soup etc available by prior notice. In the future we hope to have full meals available for coach parties etc Toilet facilites and seperate changing areas are also available. So come along and enjoy"
