Trail Description

This is a 10km trail following the footsteps of the North Cork Militia as they marched out to confront Fr John Murphy and his United Irishmen on Oulart Hill in 1798. You will pass through some beautiful rural landscape passing the birthplace of Edward Fitzgerald,the site of Ballinamonabeg church burned in 1798 and the now abandoned village,pass along the old Dublin to Wexford coach road, site of Bolaboy Hedge school,Oulart House of stories, and finally to the top of Oulart Hill and the biggest 1798 monument in the world "Tulach a tSolais"

i have been walking the 1798 Heritage Trail the last 4 Years and i have to say this year was the best so far ;We had Karin Dub; sky Ecologist ,she was great Looking forwards to 2014
