Part of the Beara Way from Glengarriff to Adrigole via the Sugarloaf Mountain pass. This route commences in the Coomerkane Valley and continues following the way marked trail rising steeply uphill until the pass at the Sugarloaf Mountain. From here it continues downhill all the way to Adrigole. The terrain is loose shingle/rock at first then bogland underfoot and quite steep in places. Sturdy boots should be worn and it may be boggy in winter months. The views are excellent throughout with views initially of Glengarriff and Garinish Island stretching right up to the Kerry border then superb views on the way down to Adrigole out as far as Fastnet Rock, Sheeps’ Head Peninsula, Bere Island and Hungry Hill.
