This route takes you off road fairly fast – this gives you better views of the waterfall – amazing in the winter. Also it runs up to intersect with the Wicklow way. It does ignore the 2 other carparks using the main one.
Starting out down the hill you will shortly see a small trail up through woods on your left – take this – it winds around but brings you back to the main trail just before the bridge.
Go over bridge and stay to left going around the drainage (?) ponds – just at house go up through trees – path follows tree line all the way to the top.
3/4rs of way up you will see the Wicklow way signposted on your left. Keep going to fence/gate and take a 90deg right – follow trail around over some co*** stone up to peak – great views here.
Keep straight downhill and back to bridge. You can either go back up the trail you descended here or just follow the main trail back to the car park. Main trail is nice and wide. Loads of little paths here to explore.
Be cautious of the climb by the tree line up to the peak before you come to the Wicklow Way in heavy frost – it can get very icy/slippery here.
