Keadeen is an isolated south-west outpost of the Wicklow mountains over looking the Glen of Imaal which is backed by the mass of Lugnaquillia. This walk involves some steep, uphill climbs and some rough terrain in places. However the steepness means the views are spectacular. Good walking boots are essential. The Dwyer-McAllister Cottage opposite the car park is famous for the 1798 Rebellion when British soliders were trying to catch Michael Dwyer. He was trapped in the cottage, but Sam McAllister stepped out in his place and was shot while Dwyer escaped.
