One of the true classic walks of the Irish mountains. Often regarded as the closest thing we have to an alpine ridge route, although no ropework is needed. Can be walked in either direction but anti-clockwise is recommended as most scree covered slopes will be descended rather than ascended. It is a long commiting walk, best tackled with lots of daylight to play with and a good level of physical fitness. Map, compass and the know-how to use them a necessity.
